In August the Food Pantry served: 527 adults —196 children —149 sack lunches
First Presbyterian Church donated 467 items. Many thanks for helping those in need.
The Deacons' Food Pantry provides groceries to families and individuals on as as-needed basis. The Pantry is stocked with donations of non-perishable food donations made by neighboring churches, members, and friends. These donations are supplemented by purchased items, using funds from the Deacons, the Mission Committee, and individual donations.
What are Deacons? The Deacons are "ordinary" people who minister to those who are in need. They care for the sick, the friendless, and to those who are in distress — inside the community of faith and beyond — through prayer and provisions. Deacons are elected by the congregation for a three-year term.
What is the First Presbyterian Church Deacon's Fund used for? The Deacons' Fund provides for the Emergency Food Pantry and the Members-in-need Fund. Offering envelopes are found in the sanctuary pew racks.
How can I help? We always need the following items: canned pasta (with or without meat), chili, beef stew, Chunky soup, Spam, tuna, peanut butter, canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruits, Velveeta (processed cheese) and crackers, packaged rice and pasta dishes.
—also—
The volunteers of the Food Pantry have found that the loaves of bread that church members have been donating once a month are greatly appreciated by individuals who come to the Pantry. Therefore, the Food Pantry is requesting bread donations every Sunday morning, instead of just once a month. The bread can be placed in a basket in either the Narthex or the Commons. Thank you!
