Campaign for Real Choice in Illinois

The Presbyterian
Health, Education and Welfare Association is a community of ministries —
* Seeking and voicing God’s Shalom
* Proclaiming the inclusive Gospel of justice and mercy,
* Sharing in Christ’s work of compassion and love,
* Witnessing the Spirit’s prophetic activity in church and world.

The 217th General Assembly approved a policy, A Vision of Living into the Body of Christ, that calls the church to "prophetic witness regarding issues related to people with disabilities, recognizing that disability concerns are a matter of social justice."

Accessibility

In front of the Seventh Street red doors on Sundays, you will find a passenger drop off zone marked with an orange cone. The garden (to the north of the red doors) offers a no-step, ramped entry to the sanctuary, as well as entry into the education building and the chapel. There is also a portico-covered doorway that accesses the church from the parking lot behind the building; this rear entry does have three stairs.

Designated Parking for Disabled
Behind the church: Two marked spaces, one on the east side, near the portico, and one on the southwest side near Capitol Ave. There are curb cuts at the street corners.

Wheelchair Accessibility
We offer lots of room in the sanctuary for extra long wheelchairs. Several rows are configured similarly to a modular-seat movie theater, so your wheelchair will not be isolated from others. We have one courtesy wheelchair available upon request.

Restrooms

Two accessible restrooms are located in the narthex.

Hearing Assist Devices

Hearing Assist Devices are available in the narthex of the Church. Please ask a greeter or an usher.

Large Print Bulletins

Large Print Bulletins are available every Sunday. Please ask the greeters or an usher.

Deacon's Transportation Mission

The Deacons provide transportation on Sundays for those who need assistance. Please call the church office (217.528.4311).
