and Performing Arts at First Presbyterian Church
Biannual
church- sponsored musical events include two Brown Bag Concert series, on Wednesdays during Advent and Lent.
The free half-hour
midday concerts offer a variety of musical presentations by local
and visiting artists. The audience is invited to enjoy lunch during the concerts,
and "Brown Bag Lunches" may
be purchased at the door for $5.00. You are welcome to bring your own packed lunch, if you prefer.

Ann Marie Stahel

Ann Marie Stahel is a native of Cass County. She attended St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, and graduated with a BA from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She earned a Master of Music from the Schola Cantorem Basiliensis, University of Basel, Switzerland. Ms. Stahel has traveled widely. In addition to teaching music for 20 years while living in Europe, she served as a music teacher and choral director at a missionary school in the Highlands of Papua, New Guinea from 1999-2000. Ann Marie is presently Assistant to the President of Illinois College and Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees at Illinois College, directs the Illinois College Wind Ensemble and Pep Band, and is Director of Music for Our Saviour Catholic Church.

Rudolf Zuiderveld is Organist of First Presbyterian Church and Professor of Music and College Organist at Illinois College, Jacksonville. He received his bachelor's degree from Calvin College, and following service in the Vietnam War, a Master of Music Degree from the University of Michigan. After teaching at Dordt College (Iowa), he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance and pedagogy for the University of Iowa. Since 1988 he has enjoyed playing a great stylistic variety of excellent church music at First Presbyterian Church, now on the Brombaugh organ (and the "baby" Brunzema “portatif organ”). He concertizes and lectures regularly throughout the United States, and occasionally in his native Netherlands. In addition he has served as an organ consultant and writer for hymnological and organ journals. Rudy and his wife Sharon have three sons, Nick, Loren, and Mark.
