and Performing Arts at First Presbyterian Church
Biannual
church- sponsored musical events include two Brown Bag Concert series, on Wednesdays during Advent and Lent.
The free half-hour
midday concerts offer a variety of musical presentations by local
and visiting artists. The audience is invited to enjoy lunch during the concerts,
and "Brown Bag Lunches" may
be purchased at the door for $5.00. You are welcome to bring your own packed lunch, if you prefer.

The Heritage String Trio
Jean Ellen Tweet —violin,

Susan Phillips —'cello
Jean Ellen Tweet, violin, holds the B. Mus. degree in performance from Northern Illinois University. She studied with Elizabeth Mueller, David Erlich and Shmuel Askanazi. Jean has played with the Racine Symphony Orchestra, Rockford Symphony, Sinfonia Concertante (Milwaukee), Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, Waukesha Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, and was a member of both the Illinois Symphony and Illinois Chamber Orchestras for 13 years. She is currently busy with a private violin studio and freelance work. Jean is soon to be an entreprenuer in Elkhart with her shop, "Aeolian," which will feature antiques, books and art. Jean and her husband, Robert Sill, have three sons.
Karen Frost, viola, a native of St. Louis, graduated with a B. Mus. Degree from the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign and holds a M. Mus. Degree from Western Illinois University. Her teachers include Guillermo Perich, Gladys Lang and Michael McClelland. She is a member of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and has played with the Jacksonville Symphony and the Millikin-Decatur Symphony. Karen came to Springfield as a vocal/general music teacher with Springfield School District #186. She was responsible for starting a string music program at Dubois Elementary School. Along with her freelance work, Karen has a busy schedule with her private strings and piano studio. She and her husband, Brad, have two daughters.
Susan Phillips, 'cello, holds both B. Mus. and M. Mus. degrees from the University of Michigan. She has studied with Louis Potter, Jerome Jelinek and John Ehrlich. She has held teaching positions at James Madison University, University of Northern Iowa and Millikin University. Susan is currently associated with Illinois College and is Principal Cellist in the Jacksonville Symphony. Her orchestra experience includes playing in the Jacksonville, Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Millikin-Decatur, Springfield, Champaign-Urbana and Danville Symphony Orchestras. Her chamber music ensembles include the University of Northern Iowa Piano Trio and String Quartet, Millikin University Piano Trio, Forster Trio and Heritage String Trio. Susan currently has a private studio. She and her husband, Douglas, have a son.
