and Performing Arts at First Presbyterian Church
Biannual
church- sponsored musical events include two Brown Bag Concert series, on Wednesdays during Advent and Lent.
The free half-hour
midday concerts offer a variety of musical presentations by local
and visiting artists. The audience is invited to enjoy lunch during the concerts,
and "Brown Bag Lunches" may
be purchased at the door for $5.00. You are welcome to bring your own packed lunch, if you prefer.

Alex has enrolled in the Honors Program of Miami University (Ohio) for the fall, 2008 term. He will major in architecture and minor in violin Performance. Alex has attained many national, state and local awards and recognition, including:
Who's Who Among American High School Students, 2004-2005; Magna cum Laude - National Latin Exam, 2004;
Illinois State Scholar, 2007; Illinois Music Education Association State Honors Band (tuba), 2008; Illinois Music Education Association district orchestra (first violin), 2006; Illinois Music Education Association district concert band (tuba), 2005
Alex was a 2008 Horace Mann Employee Scholarship winner ($10,000), and he has been recognized for his local service by ranking 2006 First Place in Photography at Illinois Junior Classical League North Convention, All-City Band (Tuba), 2005-08 and High Honor Roll.
Alex has been employed as a Latta-Suzuki School of Music music reading instructor from 2004-2008. He has been in demand as a violinist for weddings, dinners, and other private events for the last four years.
