Millikin University Choir Concert
Friday, April 9, 2010 | 7:00 PM
— in the Sanctuary
Two of the five large choral ensembles at Millikin University - the Millikin Women and the Millikin Men's Choirs - will perform a joint concert. They are directed respectively by Beth Holmes and Ted Hesse.
The Millikin University Women’s Choir, under the direction of Beth Holmes, is an all freshmen women’s choir, which sings a wide variety of music – including both traditional and contemporary choral music. The 60 women in the group, some music majors and many studying in other disciplines, exude a youthful love for music and strong desire to recreate the work of many compositional and vocal styles with excellence.
The Millikin Men's Choir is comprised of 50 freshmen and upperclass students. There are many music majors as well as non-music majors represented in the choir. The choir is conducted by Professor Ted Hesse and sings a wide variety of repertoire such as traditional choral pieces, contemporary a cappella works, musical theater arrangements, folk songs and spirituals.
The concert will be free to the public, with a free will offering.
